Top five then heartbreak for Booth-amos as Bayliss Scores in Misano

Top five then heartbreak for Booth-amos as Bayliss Scores in Misano
Racing Triumph Motorcycles 16th jun 2025

The PTR Triumph Factory Racing team headed to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, for round six, the half-way point of the season.

Booth-Amos made a superb start going from seventh to fourth on the first lap. The British rider was battling for the podium positions before an intense battle with Marcel Schrötter saw him lose valuable time and allowed the front four riders to break away. Once he passed Schrötter, he showed incredible pace to catch the leaders but there wasn’t enough time to make a move and he crossed the finish line in fifth, and sitting third in the Championship.

In Sunday’s race two, once again Booth-Amos made a great start going from fifth to fourth and soon moving up into third. He was looking strong, setting the fastest lap of the race – a rapid 1’37.741 on lap two, before he was unfortunately taken out by Filippo Farioli who came from two places back and went straight into the side of Booth-Amos. Luckily the British rider is OK.

Teammate Oli Bayliss had a tough start in race one dropping back from 12th on the grid. He toughed it out but struggled to regain ground, crossing the line in 19th. He started Sunday’s race in P13 and was making up ground when the race was red flagged with five laps to go due to a crash. He crossed the line in 11th place.

Unfortunately the DNF for Booth-Amos saw him lose two places in the Championship, he now sits fifth with Bayliss in 13th.

Next, the PTR Triumph squad head to the home race at Donington 11 - 13 July. In addition, Oli Bayliss will be making a wildcard appearance in the British Supersport Championship at Snetterton for the Macadam Triumph Factory Racing team, 20 - 22 June.

Tom Booth-Amos #69: “Fifth in race one was actually better than I thought it would be to be honest. I had to work for it but overall felt pretty good, just a shame I got stuck behind Marcel and couldn’t get past otherwise I felt like I had podium pace. Obviously not the result we wanted today, unfortunately got wiped out on the third lap by another rider, out of control. It’s a shame because I felt really good. I actually felt a lot better than yesterday, more comfortable. We just need to come back stronger for the second half of the season.”

Oli Bayliss #32: “A really difficult day on Saturday. I didn’t have a lot of feeling on the bike and we were struggling a lot. Today was a step in the right direction. We made good progress but didn’t have the pace to go in the first couple of laps. After that we kept a nice pace until the red flag.”
