Camden Mclellan Charges to Eighth Overall at Mxgp of Spain

MXGP of Spain
Racing Triumph Motorcycles 12th maj 2025

Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing’s Camden McLellan has claimed eighth overall at the MXGP of Spain in Lugo. Competing at round eight of the MX2 World Championship – another GP heavily affected by rain – McLellan delivered consistent performances aboard his TF 250-X to place seventh in both races. For Guillem Farres, his home GP was marred by crashes, with the Spaniard ultimately placing 12th overall.

Following a tough Grand Prix in Portugal last weekend, McLellan was eager to make amends in Spain. After qualifying eighth, he headed to the start line for race one with a favourable gate pick. As the pack emerged from the first turn, Camden was in second, a position he held until later in the lap when he stalled his machine in a tight corner. The mishap dropped him two spots, and additional small errors saw him finish seventh in the opening moto.

Starting seventh in race two set McLellan up for an improved result. A hard charge early on moved him up to fifth, before a couple of small mistakes dropped him to sixth. As the laps wound down, Camden lost another position to championship leader Kay de Wolf and ultimately crossed the finish line in seventh. The points secured across the two motos placed McLellan eighth on the day and he remains seventh in the series standings.

The MXGP of Spain wasn’t quite the home race that Farres had hoped for. In race one, he fell from eighth on the final lap and finished in 11th. Multiple small crashes in the second moto prevented Guillem from reaching the top 10 and he placed 15th for 12th overall. After missing three of the eight rounds held so far this season, Farres lies 16th in the championship.

Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing returns to action in two weeks’ time with a trip to Ernee for the MXGP of France, an event that marks round nine of the 2025 MX2 World Championship.

Camden McLellan

“That’s the Spanish GP wrapped up. It’s been an up and down weekend for me. My speed was good all weekend, on Saturday when the track was dry, and today when it was pretty muddy. In the first moto today I started up front but I just made too many mistakes. It was the same in race two as well, so if I can eliminate these mistakes, I know I can be fighting for the podium again.”

Guillem Farres

“It’s been a difficult weekend for me. The rain made things tough, but crashes didn’t help with my results either. I didn’t get the best of starts in race one but pulled through to eighth, but then I crashed on the final lap and ended up 11th. I managed to get a good start in race two, but then a few issues on lap one pushed me back. I then crashed and was way back in the pack. It was tough to pass here and I could only get back to 15th at the end.”

Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager

“Another muddy weekend of racing for the team here in Spain. Across the two days the track was really different. Dry and fast on Saturday then muddy on Sunday. Guillem was a little bit off of where he needed to be this weekend, although today the track was really tough. Camden’s results don’t show how well he rode this weekend as he was fast, but some mistakes cost him a lot of time. Hopefully for the next round we can race in nice conditions and have both riders riding to their full potential.”
