Oli Bayliss once again dominated the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship races aboard the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS, as the penultimate round of the 2026 season took place this weekend at Donington Park. Joining Bayliss on both podiums was the XMT Racing Triumph, with Josh Whatley finishing third and second.

Making it ten wins for the Macadam Triumph Factory Racing team this season and doing the Donington double, Bayliss from the start of the weekend took charge of Supersport proceedings leading the combined practice times on Friday and qualifying for Saturday’s Sprint Race on pole position.

With near-perfect conditions at the Leicestershire track, the 10-lap Sprint Race saw Bayliss get the holeshot on his Street Triple machine and at the end of the opening lap the Australian was leading the way. However, hot on the Triumph’s heels was Jack Kennedy, who was looking to get his first win of the season.

Kennedy was quick to attack and made his move on Bayliss as he went up the inside coming into the Melbourne Hairpin. However, not backing down Bayliss kept close, monitoring his Supersport rival to see where he could make a pass back.

The pair enjoyed a good on-track battle swapping places, but it was Bayliss who emerged victorious crossing the line to take his ninth win of the season and setting a new Supersport lap record of 1:29.814 in the process.

Sunday’s feature race saw Bayliss line-up from pole position and again got the holeshot as the race got underway. Leading the pack, the race was red flagged on the fifth lap, after a highside from championship leader Luke Stapleford left fluid on track from his machine at Goddards.

With a restart over 11 laps, the Macadam rider once again led the pack, but this time had Josh Whatley chasing him down, with Kennedy sitting third. Over the race distance, Bayliss kept the Street Triple of Whatley behind him and took the chequered flag 1.546s ahead, to claim his tenth win of the season.

Meanwhile for teammate Max Wadsworth the weekend started strong with good pace and a strong qualifying with the Halifax-based rider lining up sixth on the Sprint Race grid. However in the early stages of the race his bad luck returned where he crashed out after coming together with another rider. It was the same story in Sunday’s race, when Jack Mahaffy crashed at the Foggy Esses, with his #73 machine coming into contact with Wadsworth who unfortunately had nowhere to go and once again crashed out.

The Macadam Triumph Factory Racing team will now look forward to the final round of the season, which takes place in a few weeks time at Brands Hatch on 16-18 October, where it has been confirmed that Bayliss will finish the 2026 season with the Macadam team. Missing the two first rounds of the BSS season due to his World Supersport commitments, Bayliss heads into the final round third overall with 334 points having scored 10 race wins, two second places and two third place finishes.

The XMT Racing team enjoyed their best results of the season, with Whatley aboard their Street Triple 765 RS machine. Strong all weekend Whatley qualified fifth and wasted no time in the Sprint Race getting up with the leading group. Grabbing the final podium spot, he awarded the team their first Supersport podium and did one better in Sunday’s race taking second place awarding Triumph a 1-2 podium finish.

Oli Bayliss:

“It’s been a great weekend here at Donington, it’s one of my favourite tracks to ride. From the start of the weekend we were fast. Every session, we’ve been fast, and to take a new lap record and two wins, I couldn’t ask for any more. Today’s race was a bit of a strange one. I hope everyone that crashed is okay, because it’s never good to see friends and rivals on the ground. So, the main thing is that everyone’s okay. But yeah, a big thanks to the team, GSE Group, all my sponsors for all the help, and yeah, Estoril next weekend for Worlds then it’s Brands Hatch the weekend after.”

Max Wadsworth:

“It was a really positive weekend until the first race, where I took myself out after having a coming together with Ben, which was disappointing, after we qualified strong in sixth. In the second race I had a tough start and didn’t really manage to get stuck in, and then unfortunately crashed out when Jack’s machine took me out following his crash. Had it not been for the two crashes, it would have been a positive weekend had we actually come away with the results to show for it, but we just don’t seem to be getting much luck at the moment. There are definitely good things to take from the weekend, we just need a bit of luck to go our way.”
